Interpretation of the school emblem :

The emblem of Guangdong Pharmaceutical University is designed with exquisite composition, including the full name of the university in Mao style calligraphy, the English abbreviation GDPU, the olive branch symbolizing medicine and life, the kapok flower symbolizing Guangzhou City, the vibrant Guangdong Pharmaceutical University students, and the date of the university’s founding in 1958.

The school emblem has a unique shape, is intuitive, solemn, rigorous, and combines both movement and stillness. It highlights the school’s characteristic of combining medicine with pharmacy, and has a distinctive image.

The center of the school emblem is a simple shape of Guangzhou Kapok, which clearly conveys the geographical location of Guangdong Pharmaceutical University and highlights the status of Guangdong Pharmaceutical University in southern China as one of the three independently established pharmaceutical universities in the country. Above the flower shape is an abstract deformation of an open book page, which reflects the characteristics of the school and conveys the cultural connotation of Guangdong Pharmaceutical University and the sacred duty of teaching and educating people.

On the kapok flower are two letters “Y” and “Y” representing “medicine” and “medicine”, which are cleverly combined in artistic deformation: reflecting the core concept of combining medicine and medicine and putting people first. The shape of the two “Y” letters and the transformation on the head form a “person” with wings spread high, full of vitality and a healthy body, symbolizing the vision of Guangyao people for the future, and their positive and enterprising spirit of pursuing excellence.

The olive leaf formed by the letter “Y” on the outer ring of the school emblem reflects the school motto of Guangdong Pharmaceutical University, “Caring for Life and Protecting Health”. The “天” and “地” on the school emblem are the full name and English abbreviation of Guangdong Pharmaceutical University, implying the meaning of “standing tall and upright”, which is full of modernity and conveys the strong development trend of Guangdong Pharmaceutical University in line with international standards.

The school emblem uses dark blue as its standard color, representing the ocean of knowledge, the depth of science and technology, and rational thinking. It is a spiritual symbol of the teachers and students of Guangzhou Pharmaceutical University’s courage to climb the peak of science and technology and spread their wings to soar in the ocean of knowledge.

School Song

“A New Chapter for Chinese Medicine”

Lyrics and music by Huang Hongxing

Rooted in the fertile soil of South Guangdong

Kapok flowers bloom with fiery red ideals

The gallant Pearl River

The green olive branch carries the hope of life

Going through the glorious years

History is engraved with our glory and dreams

Entering a new century

The times call on us to innovate and develop to create brilliance!

We, the people of Guangyao, value justice, seek truth, inspire and practice

Every year, peach and plum blossoms bloom

We, the Guangdong Pharmaceutical University, use both traditional Chinese and Western medicine to help the world

A new chapter for Chinese medicine*

Opening a new chapter for Chinese medicine
